Welcome: Why I Started Caught up in Motherhood

I want to share with you the story of how my motherhood journey began and why I decided to start this podcast. I understand the struggles of being a work-from-home mom and the constant juggling act that comes with it. I'm Jessa, and this is "Caught Up in Motherhood," where I aim to help you set priorities, create boundaries, and find time for yourself without sacrificing your role as a mother. If you're ready to be caught up in motherhood, grab a cup of coffee, and let's dive in.

Did you ever feel like you were at a crossroads in your life, unsure of which path to take? That was me a couple of years ago, right after my first son LeRoy was born. I had been working in corporate HR for several years and enjoyed it, but after becoming a mom, something changed. I realized that the corporate world was no longer a fit for me. My heart yearned to be with my son, especially as he faced some health issues.

LeRoy has asthma and allergies from a young age, and every time he got sick, it turned into a scary and stressful ordeal. Those emergency room visits and sleepless nights took a toll on me as a first-time parent. It was during one of those hospital stays that I decided I needed to make a change. I couldn't bear the thought of leaving him with someone else while he needed me the most.

My desire to be there for my son led me on a journey to find a work-from-home solution. I couldn't simply quit my job and lose our dual income. That's when I stumbled upon the idea of becoming a virtual assistant. With my background in HR and strong organizational skills, it seemed like a perfect fit. Though this may not be the path for everyone, it's crucial to explore the options that work best for you and your family.

Starting my work-from-home journey was not without challenges. I struggled with trying to do it all – taking care of my son, running the household, and building a new business. I felt like I had to live up to some unrealistic image of the "perfect mom." But one conversation with my husband changed everything.

My husband and I started a morning coffee check-in routine. We would take a few minutes each morning to discuss our goals and to-do lists for the day. This simple practice allowed us to be on the same page, set priorities, and figure out when to get things done. By communicating openly, we could also support each other in accomplishing our tasks.

Through this journey, I learned the importance of changing my mindset and recognizing my self-worth. I had placed unnecessary pressure on myself to do it all without realizing that I had a supportive partner who was willing to help. It was time to let go of the unrealistic image and embrace the idea that we could make our own rules as a family.

Motherhood is a beautiful yet challenging journey that requires finding balance and seeking support. As we continue this podcast, my aim is to help you strengthen your self-worth, nurture your marriage, and support your family. Remember, you don't have to do it all alone. Open communication, understanding, and collaboration with your partner can make all the difference.

Thank you for spending time with me today. I appreciate you being here, and I hope to get to know you better as we continue on this podcast journey together. Don't forget to join my launch team and stay updated on all the exciting things coming up. Remember, we're in this together, mama! Let's support each other and thrive in motherhood. Until next time!
